France is planning to introduce an age verification system to look at porn. The new measures would require anyone wanting to view porn to install a government phone app and get an official digital certification and code proving they’re at least 18 years old.

The Digital Prime Minister for France, Jean-Noel Barrot, says he’s putting “an end to this scandal,” adding that this year “it is the end of access to pornography websites for our children.”

The UK had planned a similar program but did away with their ban in 2019 without it going into effect.
