Antonio Brown Melts Down, Storms Off Mid-Game

We’re used to seeing fans streaking onto the field, but the Bucs-Jets game offered a first. Antonio Brown doffed his jersey and pads midway through—and ran shirtless toward the Tampa locker room. Now, the troubled wideout was back with team after serving a three-game suspension. But, after the monumental meltdown, Brown is now done with the Bucs and—he may have played his last snap in the NFL.

What exactly upset Brown to the point he channeled his inner Magic Mike, flashing his six pack on the way to the showers? Bucs coach Bruce Arians benched the star. We now know that teammates Mike Evans and O.J. Howard tried their best to calm Brown down but were unsuccessful. Brown chucked his equipment to the MetLife fans—and did jumping jacks through the end zone, before waving goodbye. I swear you can’t make this stuff up! Now, the Bucs were down two scores at the time—and basically had to rally back without him. Brown, he had just three receptions for 26 yards before exiting. But thank God for Rob Gronkowski. Tom Brady’s favorite target had a 115 receiving yard day—snatching a couple key first downs that helped ignite the Bucs big comeback!

But this being Brady, that Tampa comeback was indeed written in the stars. After he picked up his third TD on the day, the Bucs went for the two-point conversion to put it just out of New York’s reach in the closing seconds. Robert Saleh and the Jets were up by as much as 14 points but, he and Zach Wilson made the mistake all teams seem to make with Brady. They gave him the ball back with a minute to go in the fourth and—he made em pay. But the story of this one is of course Brown—who quit on the team when they needed him the most. Now, if that was the last we see of him in an NFL uniform, his shirtless send off will represent an ignominious if not fitting end for the receiver. Arians seemed to suggest as much when he was asked about AB’s antics after the win. “I’m not talking about him,” Arians said. “He’s no longer part of the Bucs.” Woof!
