Crumbling 1890 Log Cabin ‘In Considerable Disrepair’ Goes On Sale For Whopping $575,000 In One Of Bay Area’s Most Expensive Neighborhoods

If you have over a half-million dollars and are looking for a real “fixer-upper,” this is the listing for you. A log cabin built in 1890 that survived two fires in the 1930s is up for sale in the Bay Area in San Francisco for $575 THOUSAND. The cabin is listed as “in considerable disrepair,” and the pictures included with the listing back that description up.

That’s a lot of money for a cabin that’s one hundred and thirty years old, isn’t it? It’s a two-bedroom, one-bath cabin with what is described as a “run-down shack” on the property. And the property itself? It’s roughly 25,000 square feet of land, which is just over half an acre, a square about 160 feet on each side.

That sounds like a hefty price tag for what you’re getting, but there’s more to it than you might think. It’s surrounded by trees, offering privacy in the crowded Bay Area. Also, the average home value in the Oakland Hills area is more than $1.5 million, so it will most likely draw some interest, even if they just clear the cabin away and build a new home.
