Group Looking For ‘Haunted House’ In South Carolina Discovers Body In Freezer And House Burns Down

In Norway, South Carolina, the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office says a group of adults were out riding four-wheelers on Sunday when they decided to explore an abandoned house that was rumored to be haunted. They didn’t find any ghosts but they did find a decomposing body in a freezer on the back porch.

They called police and deputies determined the remains were human. Identification and cause of death are pending an autopsy. Officials say the property owner is cooperating.

But in a strange twist, just 48 hours after the body was found in the freezer, police say the house burned down to the ground in a fire. Orangeburg County firefighters say the early Tuesday blaze at the home in Norway is considered suspicious, but a cause has not been determined.
