Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Go Braless During Quarantine
There are a lot of benefits to working from home, especially right now, and for a lot of women, that includes not having to put on a bra each day (at least if you don’t have any video chats for work). But while it may feel gr
eat to let the twins loose all day, experts are warning of some lasting negative effects of not keeping the gals bound.
According to Victoria Shelton, a garment technologist at Figleaves, breasts that go unsupported for too long could risk damage to something called Cooper’s ligaments, which is connective tissue, and could lead to sagging boobs, especially with big-busted women.
“Our wardrobe needs have changed as we find ourselves at home. But we all still need to wear a bra as our breasts need to be supported – due to their weight you may damage your posture or have back pain if your breasts aren’t fully supported,” she shares. “If breasts are left unsupported damage can occur to the Cooper’s ligament in the breast, causing them to sag.”
And cosmetic surgeon Dr. Riccardo Frati agrees the danger to Cooper’s ligaments is real, adding, “breasts tend to sag over time due to gravity and age.”
But just because you shouldn’t go braless, doesn’t mean you have to be uncomfortable. Shelton suggests finding comfortable alternatives, such as flexi wires, or non-wired styles with seam cups.
- But regardless of the warning, lots of women are using their self-quarantine as a reason to shed the bra. Check out some tweets about it below:
