Reporter Quits On-Air After Thinking She Won The Lottery

A Spanish TV reporter is blushing redder than Santa’s suit after quitting on-air thinking she won the lottery. Natalia Escudero, who works for RTVE, started screaming and bragging about how she wasn’t coming into work the next day after mistakenly thinking she had won a $4-million Christmas jackpot.

The thing is… the jackpot is shared among multiple winners. So even though she was clutching a winning ticket in the El Gordo lottery, her take was actually around $5,500, not $4-million. While that’s still far from a lump of coal, Escudero definitely regrets screaming on-air that she was done working… although she is still planning on taking a vacation.

“These last few months have been difficult for me for personal reasons and for the first time the goddess fortune had smiled at me,” she writes in a translated tweet. “It is sad that [I am known as] the manipulative and lying journalist.”
