That’s correct, in his Neuralink project, Musk wants to hook up people’s brains with a computer and have the computer be able to take over one’s body or at least some of your brains functions. It’s not all freak factor, however. The idea is rooted in being able to help those with traumatic brain injuries.

The company’s goals are to create a chip that can be implanted into the brain to treat a variety of brain injuries and diseases, including paralysis, Alzheimer’s, and dementia. Musk did warn that progress will be slow and that the company will not suddenly unveil a chip that takes over brains. At the very least, Musk says that he wants to get FDA approval for the implants. He expects to begin human trials by the end of next year.
