Town Lifts Pinball Ban
For 61 years, the residents of Kokomo, Indiana have been playing pinball illegally. Believe it or not, the town had placed a ban on the arcade game six decades ago.
The exact reason pinball was nixed isn’t being reported, but the local government agreed it was silly. In case you missed it, mayor Greg Goodnight signed an ordinance lifting the ban while resting on pinball machine. He then invited police chief Rob Baker to play the first legal game since 1955.
It seems many citizens weren’t aware the game was banned in the first place. Mike Wilson, who owns American Dream Hi-Fi, the record store where Mayor Goodnight signed the ordinance, says he had no idea he’d been legally serving alcohol but illegally supplying free pinball games.
