Credit Card Perks You Probably Didn’t Know Existed

As folks head out to do their holiday shopping, many will be putting their purchases on plastic, and while credit cards are certainly convenient, especially if you don’t have the money for all those gifts, there are other reasons you may want to consider charging everything.

According to a new report by, many of the most popular credit cards offer some pretty valuable perks that many people aren’t even aware of. The site found that of the 100 most popular cards

  • 81% offer extended warranties, sometimes up to two years over the manufacturer’s warranty
  • 57% provide purchase security, which will replace, repair or reimburse cardholders for personal property that is lost, stolen or damaged, usually up to 90 days after purchase
  • 47% deliver price protection, which will refund the difference if a cardholder finds an item they purchased at a cheaper price
  • 26% guarantee returns even when the merchant does not, although there’s usually a 90 day limit, and there is a price cap.

What’s more, 17% of those cards, including the Chase Freedom and Citi Prestige, offer all four of these benefits, with only 15% of cards offering none of them.
