Scottish University Offering A Class On Homer Simpson’s Philosophy
Always thought there was a deeper meaning to “The Simpsons”? So does Dr. John Donaldson. The professor at Scotland’s University of Glasgow is set to teach the class “D’Oh! The Simpsons Introduce Philosophy.”
According to the course description, Aristotle, Kant, Marx, Camus, and many other great thinkers’ ideas are represented on the show so the class will take popular philosophical themes and apply them to different episodes and characters in “The Simpsons.”
“I like the Simpsons because it’s a great work of art. It’s a cartoon of a great tapestry. There’s so much going on in it,” Dr. Donaldson explains. “It encourages you to reflect on what’s important in life.”
