Some steps to take if you want pounds to come off while you sleep
Anyone who’s wanted to lose a few pounds has probably wished there was a way to go to bed and have the extra el-bees simply melt away overnight. Well, you’re unlikely to wake up and see 50 pounds magically disappear, but according to doctors, there are some steps folks can take that may help them shed a few pounds while they’re getting their nightly zzz’s.
Here are a few things you could do that may help those pounds come off overnight:
Sleep Naked – Research suggests sleeping naked helps increase a person’s metabolic rate, because if you’re body is cold it will produce fat to heat it up, which in turn can burn calories.
Have a Snack – While eating food before bed may seem counterintuitive to weight loss, the truth is it may help. Doctors suggest going to bed hungry can affect your ability to fall asleep, which isn’t good. Plus, it will cause you to wake up hungry and possibly eat a huge breakfast. Just note, that pre-bedtime snack should be no more than 300 calories, and should be something healthy, not junk food.
Exercise Before Bed – Experts say that after working out, a person’s metabolic rate continues to increase for up to 16 hours, so you can burn calories if you go to sleep after exercising. But they do warn that too much exercise before bedtime can disrupt a person’s sleep.
Sip Grape Juice – Resveratrol, which can be found in grape juice, as well as wine blueberries, strawberries and apples, can help turn bad fat into good, and since having wine every night isn’t exactly healthy, drinking a bit of grape juice can be a good option
Sleep in a Dark Room – Too much light can interfere with the body’s production of melatonin, which can affect the quality of a person’s sleep, and when people are tired they have a tendency to overeat and have less control over the calories they take in.
