Are you someone who loves beer? Do you love it so much that you’d be interested in traveling to other cities to sample their brews? Well, guess what? You’re not alone. A survey by Travelocity found that more than three quarters of those polled admit they’d like to travel to visit craft breweries and sample local beer, so the site set out to find the best beer destinations in the country.
With the help of the Brewers Association, which is dedicated to promoting American craft beers and a community of beer enthusiasts, Travelocity has come out with their first ever Beer Tourism Index, naming both large and small metro areas that are perfect for those wanting to take a beer vacation.
There are currently about 4,800 craft breweries in the U.S. and according to the Beer Index, the best large metro area to enjoy a few brews is the Portland-Vancouver-Beaverton regions of Oregon and Washington, while if you’re more likely to visit a small area, you’ll want to head to Bend, Oregon or Boulder, Colorado.
