The Best Haunted Hotels For Halloween

Halloween is just around the corner, and if you’re someone who likes to give yourself a fright, you don’t necessarily need to go to a fake haunted house to do so. There are several hotels in the country that are said to be haunted, and Hotels.com has revealed their locations, so if you want to book a fright-filled vacation there’s still time.

Haunted hotels include:

  • Hotel Parq Central, Albuquerque, NM – Although it’s now a luxury hotel, the premises used to hold a rail-yard hospital which then became a psychiatric ward for children. Some suggest the ward’s former patients are still “living” on the property, with guests and employees reporting hearing whispers and feelings of being watched.
  • Marshall House, Savannah, GA – A location used during the Civil War to treat yellow fever epidemics, guests claim to have seen ghosts, and have heard children running down the hall and faucets that turn on by themselves.
  • Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, CO – Probably the most famous haunted hotel, the Stanley inspired Stephen King to write “The Shining” after he and his wife were the only guests staying at the property during a night in 1973. Some suggest the hotel’s former owners F.O and Flora Stanley still haunt the property, with Flora’s piano playing heard coming from the hotel’s music room.
  • Hotel Del Coronado, Coronado, CA – This beachside hotel is said to be haunted by the ghost of Kate Morgan, an American woman who died on the property under mysterious circumstances, with guests requesting her third-floor guest room in the hopes of catching a ghostly glimpse of her.
  • Stay on Main, Los Angeles, CA – Once known as the Cecil Hotel, video footage from the hotel was linked to the 2013 disappearance and death of a young girl, which reportedly inspired  FX’s “American Horror Story: Hotel.” It was also home to infamous serial killers Richard Ramirez and Jack Unterweger.
