Get ready to reach for those Q-tips. Radhika Mandloi is just four-years-old but she’s already suffered something particularly horrific…and disgusting. The little girl from India started suffering extreme pain and itching in her left ear, but her parents initially thought she was overreacting.
After about a week, the child’s parents finally brought to her to a local hospital. That’s when doctors discovered an insect had gotten into her ear and laid 80 eggs.
Dr. Raj Kumar Mundra helped remove the worms in two seperate 90-minute sessions. “Fortunately, no worms were found in the brain,” he adds, “but if she had been left untreated for another week, the worms could have entered the brain and this could have been life threatening.”
Little Radhika is being kept for observation for a week and since the bug is attracted to unhygienic conditions, it’s believed the child doesn’t live in a well maintained home. It’s unclear if the parents will be investigated.
