Why You Should Avoid Making A Toast At Your Next Party
There’s always that moment at a wedding or party when someone stands up to make a toast, and chances are the person doing it isn’t exactly excited by he prospect. Well, turns out, the folks in the room are probably feeling the same way and one mag suggests they should be avoided at all costs.
“Tatler” magazine argues in their latest issue that such “boring speeches” and “cheesy toasts” are a “vibe kill” at a festive occasion. They note that in a day and age where most people lack human interaction because of technology, a speech will interrupt any connections being made at an event. “It is anti-conversation,” they write. “We are virtually completely virtual anyway… we desperately need to practice normal human interaction. Meeting people is hard enough. Don’t c*ck-block the last bastion of organic ‘I fancy you’ territory.”
Besides, the mag adds that such toasts and speeches aren’t good for hosts, because it tends to show them “in their worst light, be that smug, bigoted, idiotic, overly sentimental or show-offy.”
