Study Shows Pot Smokers Are Thinner Than Non-Smokers
We all know that when you smoke pot you’re likely to get the munchies, which would make you think there a lot of chunky potheads out there. But according to some new research, just because you like to smoke a little herb, doesn’t mean it’ll cause you to gain weight.
A study conducted by the University of Miami School of Business Administration and Miller School of Medicine found that the truth is, marijuana users tend to have a lower Body Mass Index than those who don’t light up. The study, which was conducted over a six-year period, found that females who smoke pot on a daily basis have a BMI about 3.1% lower than those who don’t smoke, while male pot smokers have a BMI that’s about 2.7% lower than non users.
Now, this study isn’t suggesting folks should start smoking pot if they want to shed some pounds. Researchers note that the results are just a correlation between pot smoking and a person’s BMI, and doesn’t actually show causation.
