ESPN has once again dug deeper into the world of things that aren’t really sports.
First, it was poker. Not a sport.
Then it was Rock, Paper, Scissors. Funny, but not a sport.
Now, they’ve gotten hold of the broadcast rights to THE DRONE RACING LEAGUE. Yes, there’s a Drone Racing League – a far cry from NASCAR, I’m sure.
Starting on October 23rd, ESPN and ESPN2 will be proud to show you the glory and splendor that can only come from people holding remote controls and playing with their toys. With any luck, we’ll see slow motion recaps of two drones colliding as their owner run to them in tears hoping the damage is minimal. Ugh. And all the while, their mommies will be on the sidelines consoling them from afar, and their fathers while be waist-deep in Budweiser contemplating how they failed.
