Man Scores Beer Money On “College Gameday”

When ESPN’s “College Gameday” was in Tennessee over the weekend, you might’ve seen a sign in the background that read: “Hi Mom! Send Beer Money!” with his Venmo account handle that read “SamC2270”. For those who don’t know, Venmo is an app that provides payments from one person to another, and that handle belongs to Sam Crowder – a student at The University of Tennessee.

Viewers to the pre-game broadcast were obviously touched and moved by Sam’s plea and ingenuity, and when it was all said and done he had received 2,000 donations. No one’s saying how much he got – but it does include a $50 and a shout out from Venmo with a note that read “Well played.” Indeed.
