Atsushi Aoki is not someone to be trifled with. The 63-year-old was fishing in a creek in Japan when a six-foot-three bear attacked him. As he puts it, “I thought it’s either ‘I kill him or he kills me.'”

While Aoki didn’t kill the bear, he did put up a good fight. The bear managed to knock him down, biting his leg and scratching his head but then Aoki unleashed his “well-honed” karate skills.

When it was all over, Aoki got back into his car and drove himself to the hospital. Oh, and according to a local police officer, he “even remembered to grab the fish that he had caught.”
