Man Leaves Note Of Apology For His Drunken Behavior

Most of us have woken up from a night of drinking and been less than proud of our drunken behavior. One man in Newton, Scotland terrified his neighbors when he tried to climb inside a house that turned out to not be his.

Homeowner Anna Dillon was away in London, but says her elderly mother-in-law was home at the time and was awakened by the dogs barking and a man’s hand trying to pry open the window. As Dillon puts it, “It was like something out of a horror movie.” She then posted a screenshot from a security camera showing the so-called intruder and warning the neighbors he might strike again.

As it turns out, the unidentified man was simply very, very drunk. He sent a handwritten apology note to Dillon, explaining that he had “overindulged” and mistook her house for his. “I cannot begin to express how sorry I am for my disturbance in the early hours of Sunday morning,” he writes. “I was completely disorientated and unaware of my surroundings.” He goes on to say that being drunk is not an excuse and he “would never wish anyone to feel unsafe or intimidated in their own home.” He offered his “deepest apologies” and said he hoped Dillon would “find it in her heart” to forgive him.

As for Dillon, she appreciated the “nice gesture” figuring “a lot of people wouldn’t have bothered.”
