Labor Day Weekend Is Huge For Pot Sales
As we hit Labor Day weekend, a lot of folks will head to the store to load up on beer, chips and burgers, but apparently a lot of people are also hitting up their local pot connection, because according to a new report, Labor Day weekend is one of the highest grossing sales periods for marijuana.
MJ Freeway reports that sales of pot came out to more than $32-million on Labor Day weekend of 2015, which is a 43% increase from average daily sales, and 23% more than sales during the same period in 2014. Sales during the holiday weekend last year were up 20% as compared to a non-holiday day, with individual customers spending on average $69.14 per visit during the weekend, which is 3% more than on an average day.
And customers should expect their dispensaries to be particularly crowded today, since Friday is the biggest sales day of the three-day weekend, with dispensaries and delivery services showing average sales of $7,266 on the Friday of the holiday.
And while those numbers are high, they’re only going to get higher. Forecasters say Labor Day weekend pot sales are likely to reach $41-million this weekend.
