Is there currently a bar of soap in your bathroom? Well, chances are the answer is no, because, it seems bar soap is totally passé these days, and you can thank Millennials for that.

According to a new report bar soap sales have gone down 2.2%, between 2014 to 2015, with bar soap making up only 30% of soap, bath and shower product sales. While that may not sound like a lot, consider this, 89% of American households used bar soap in 2010, with that number going down to 84% a year later.

Seems the reason for the decline is that most Millennials prefer liquid soap. Overall, 48% of Americans believe bar soap is covered in germs, and that number goes up to 60% for Millennials, but is only at 31% for those 65 and older. In fact, most bar soap users these days tend to be over 60 and male.

• Another reason fewer people are using bar soap? The survey found that 55% of Americans consider it “less convenient” when it comes to lathering up.
• For these reason, liquid soap use is definitely on the rise. In 2015, their sales were valued at $2.7 billion, and 47% of all soap, bath and shower product sales.
