Researchers Developing the “Perfect Condom”

Shengxi Chen, a professor at Arizona State University, has a dream that someday, people all over the world will be using his new invention: the perfect condom.

The condom Chen’s developed is made out of a material that he says feels more like the real thing instead of a plastic wrapper. “The main idea of this material is to mimic the human skin so you feel better,” Chen explains. He goes on to say that his goal is to create a condom that feels better for guys so they’re more likely to wrap the rascal before the ride.

Does it “work?“ That depends on your perspective. The folks at 12 News too Chen’s condoms around college campus and did a “feel test” with students. And almost every one they talked to thought Chen’s “felt smoother” than other condoms. They felt with their hands only, this wasn’t the Playboy Channel.

Chen’s next step is to get funding for clinical trials of the condoms. Based on the feel test results, probably won’t be tough to find participants on campus.
