it’s Illegal To Pretend To Be Single In Italy
Italy doesn’t appreciate liars. The country’s highest court, the Court of Cassation, has deemed it illegal to deceive a lover by “falsely claiming to be single or divorced.”
The ruling came after a woman sued the man she was having an affair with. The unidentified woman knew the man was married, but he told her he was planning on leaving his wife. He then told his mistress he did leave her, even presenting the woman with fake divorce papers.
Just in case you thought the man at the center of this case was somehow a good guy, keep in mind that both his wife and girlfriend were pregnant at the time this all went down and his main drive was to “prolong the affair,” not leave his wife for her.
The horn dog is facing forgery charges for the fake divorce papers, but it’s unclear what, if any, other charges will be tacked on. Based on the court’s history, he’ll have to pay alimony if he and his wife divorce.
