Owning A Home Still Important To Most Americans
The idea of trading in that monthly rent check for a monthly mortgage payment is still a dream for most people. According to a new survey, home ownership is still considered a top priority of most Americans.
The RobertLinker study found that 80% of Americans still consider buying a home the best investment a person can make, with 43% of Americans believing home ownership is a top long-term financial priority. What’s more, among life achievements, it ranks third, behind only getting married and achieving educational goals.
For younger folks, home ownership is still important but not as much of a priority as the overall population. The survey found that only 44% of Millennials think owning a home is the best investment they could make, with 46% of them considering it a top priority. In addition, it landed in fourth place on the list of life achievements, after achieving educational goals, achieving career aims and getting married.
