Companies Working On Self-driving Off Road Cars
These bad boys won’t just be taking you to your destination. They’ll be able to tell what kind of terrain you’re on and change the vehicle’s settings accordingly. All automatic-like. Using cameras, sonar, ultra sonic radar, light detection and the vehicle’s “brain” can sense your surroundings “up to five-meters ahead.” That’s a little over 16-feet in ‘Merican. These sensors are so advanced they’ll also be able to tell the difference between rain and snow falling.
And get this – speed, steering, and suspension are all automatically altered using artificial intelligence technology. Matrix, anyone?
While there’s no timeline for the rollout, there’s something else pretty interesting that these eggheads are up to: creating an entire fleet of self-driving off road vehicles to talk to each other.
