There’s a man in Creekside, Pennsylvania – David Wells – who owes his life to chickens.  As it happens, Wells’ son, who lives across the street, went bananas when they saw Wells’ house go up in flames. They made so much noise, in fact, that they woke up the younger Wells. 

Even better? He woke up in time to save his dad. As Fire Chief Pete Yacovone says, the chickens made “good smoke detectors” because if Wells’ son “hadn’t come and got him, we would’ve been fishing a body out of there.”
