The Cheerios Challenge Takes Over Social Media
If you were on social media this weekend, you may have noticed a bunch of pictures of babies with Cheerios stacked on their faces. Well, you weren’t going crazy. Apparently, just in time for Father’s Day, a bunch of dads decided to take part in what was called the “Cheerios Challenge.”
The whole thing was started by the Life of Dad website, which shared that one of their writers, Patrick Quinn, decided to see how many Cheerios he could stack on his three-week old son’s face while he was sitting and watching a game he was too tired to finish watching the night before.
“The idea to create the challenge came after I had managed to stack five and thought anything more would be impossible,” Quinn explains. “I was sitting with my newborn and there were Cheerios left on the couch by my older son and stacking them on the baby’s face. It just seemed like the natural thing to do.”
And with that, the Cheerios Challenge was born, with it basically taking over the internet this weekend. So far, the highest stack went to two parents who were able to get 16 on their baby’s faces, although some are questioning whether that number’s legit. Although they may have actually been beaten by a celebrity. Rapper Macklemore got into the action this weekend, posting what he claims to be 20 on his daughter’s face (although to be fair, she isn’t a newborn).
