Woman’s Headache Turns Out To Be A Spider In Her Ear
Victoria Price ended up bringing more home from the beach than a little sand on her feet. The woman from Wales went for a swim and when she got home, started suffering severe headaches.
The next day, she felt a “gurgling” sensation in her ear, which she figured was water. She figured eventually, her ear would drain. After dinner that night, she asked her husband to check for signs of infection. Instead, he said “there’s something alive in there!”
Price headed to the hospital where a nurse practitioner Sarah Gaze had to get over her fear of spiders and help. “It was very straightforward. The spider was visible in Victoria’s inner ear and it came out quite easily,” Gaze explains. “But it was alive and very wriggly. It was quite big too. It must have been twice as big as it first looked.” Ick!
Doctors then checked out Price’s ear and found no damage. Oh, and she doesn’t think her eight-legged companion left any eggs behind, either.
