Letter Written To Santa 91 Years Ago Discovered
Doing a home remodel on a old house can often bring some surprises and for Emily Nash, it brought a Christmas time capsule. Construction workers tearing down a chimney at her English home found a letter to Santa written back in 1925.
The letter was written by a child named E. Short and was surprisingly preserved very well, despite being in a chimney for 91 years. In the note, Short asked “Daddy Christmas” for “fort, cannon, box of soldiers, Indian, chocolate, boat, book, and handkerchiefs.”
Nash explains the house was built in the early 1900s, so she figures the letter was written by one of its first residents. She tried to look up the family in the 1925 census but hasn’t had any luck so far.
