The U.K.’s First Water Bar Set To Open In London
How much would you pay for water? Well it could be a lot if you buy it at the first water bar set to open at the high end store Selfridges’ London location.
So what exactly is a water bar? It’s a fancy venue that serves different varieties of H20 for those who have trained their palates to taste the differences between different types of water.
Believe it or not, Selfridges isn’t the first venue to get into the fancy water business. Molecule opened in New York City back in 2012 and came under fire for charging $2.50 for tap water. In 2013, a restaurant in Los Angeles offered a 45-page water menu created with “water sommelier” Martin Reis. Even the five-star Merchant Hotel in Belfast, Northern Ireland offered 13 different varieties of water, with the most expensive costing $37.
Selfridges’ water bar is set to open later this year, but the menu is being kept under wraps. Considering some luxury water brands cost over $120 bucks, anything is possible.
