America’s Favorite Cocktail Is…?
There’s a pretty good chance a lot of people had one or two (or maybe three) margaritas last week for Cinco De Mayo, but it seems folks don’t need a Mexican holiday to down one of those tasty beverages.
According to a new survey, the margarita is the most popular cocktail in America, favored by 60% of folks, followed by the Daiquiri (44%), Piña Colada (36%), Long Island (33%) and Mojito (29%).
As for booze itself, tequila (a main component in the margarita) is the favorite liquor for a cocktail (44%), followed by light rum (39%), flavored vodka (39%), non-flavored vodka (39%) and whiskey (27%).
The survey found that 23% of Americans have had a cocktail outside their home in the last three months, with most folks willing to spend $8.72 for a standard cocktail, although they’re fine shell out 25% more, $10.98, for one with premium spirits. And a lot of us like to drink early, with 60% of Americans drinking a cocktail at brunch, with Mimosas being the most popular drink (45%), followed by a Bloody Mary (36%) and a champagne cocktail (27%).
