Brewery Makes Beer From Belly Button Lint

It turns out you have one of the key ingredients for beer in your belly button. After hearing about beer made from yeast in a man’s beard, the brewers at 7 Cent Brewery in Victoria, Australia have crafted beer with yeast found in their belly button lint.

While it might sound gross, the brewers were careful to make sure the yeast they produced was sterile to drink. “It’s perfectly safe,” 7 Cent co-founder Doug Bremner says. “Yeast is yeast – this beer is no different to any other beer out there.”

So what does the appropriately called Belly Button Beer taste like? According to the brewery, it’s
“in the style of a new world-ish Belgian-ish Witbier with fresh orange zest and toasted coriander seeds.”
Belly Button Beer is set to make its debut at the end of the month at the 2016 Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular (GABS) in Melbourne. If it the response is positive, you may be able to buy your own bottle.
