FOX Orders a “24” Spin Off and a Show Sort of Like “Empire”
FOX isn’t messing with success. The network has ordered both a “24” spinoff and a show from Lee Daniels, the man behind “Empire.”
Non of “24: Legacy’s” 13 episodes will star Kiefer Sutherland, or his character Jack Bauer, but it will follow the same format of the original show, a story told in real time with split screens. This series will follow a military hero, played by Corey Hawkins, as he return to the U.S. and has to do battle with the trouble that follows him back. Sutherland is not scheduled to appear at this point, but he is on board as an executive producer.
The network also ordered 12 episodes of the show “Star” from “Empire’s” creator Lee Daniels. This show is not a spinoff, but it does focus on the music industry. “Star” centers on three singers trying to navigate the cut throat music industry. Newcomers Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady star as the young singers, alongside Queen Latifah, Benjamin Bratt, and guest star Lenny Kravitz. We also know “Star” will feature original music and “stunning musical fantasy sequences.”
So far, neither show has a premiere date. We’ll keep you posted.
