Someone paid a pretty penny to own the jacket Harrison Ford wears in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” Han Solo himself donated the costume piece, which he also autographed, to a charity auction organized by IfOnly.com. The bidding started at $15,000 and ultimately, Ford’s jacket brought in $191,000.
The best part? All the money is going to NYU Langone Medical Center’s Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures, or FACES. As the actor explains, it’s a cause close to his heart because his daughter suffers from the disorder.
“I’ve been very impressed with the work NYU and the FACES team have done in the field of epilepsy research, and I hope this jacket will provide some means to further that exploration,” Ford says. “This is a cause that’s near and dear to me, and unlike the cynical Han Solo, I’ve got a good feeling about this.”
