You Can Now Pay Your Taxes at 7-Eleven
Your local 7-Eleven store is now good for more than just slurpees and hot dogs that look like they’ve been rolling around on the grill for weeks. Believe it or not, you can now actually pay your taxes at one.
The Internal Revenue Service just announced that folks without bank accounts or credit cards will be able to pay their tax bills at one of 7,000 participating 7-Eleven convenience stores in 34 states. If not for this convenience, these people would have had to find an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center in order to settle their taxes for the year.
But even though most 7-Elevens are open 24 hours, seven days a week, folks shouldn’t take this as an excuse to wait until the last minute to file. The IRS says that while people will be able to avoid the usual lines, there are still several steps to the process which need to be done before the April 18th deadline. Plus, if you owe a lot of money, you’ll have to go elsewhere. There is a maximum payment of $1,000 allowed at the 7-Eleven, and folks will be charged a fee of $3.99 for the convenience.
