Man “Fingered” Over Unreturned VHS

If you’re going to get busted for something, would you want it to be over a crappy movie? Ask James Meyers, who is facing charges over a VHS rental he forgot to return. The North Carolinian was recently pulled over for a busted tail light and when the officer ran his license, he saw that Meyers had a warrant out for his arrest for failing to return a VHS rental “Freddy Got Fingered” back in 2002.

“The officer said, ‘I don’t know how to tell you this but there’s a warrant out for your arrest from 2002. Apparently you rented the movie “Freddy Got Fingered” and never returned it,'” Meyers who was driving his daughter to school at the time, recalls. “I thought he was joking.” The officer did let him drop his daughter off at school and even go to work as long as he came to the police station later that day. When he did show up, he was put in handcuffs.

Meyers is now due in court on April 27th, on a charge of failure to return rental property, which is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $200. Oh and for what it’s worth, the video store he rented the movie from, J&J’s Video, has since closed.
