Netflix is the Key to a Happy Relationship, According to Netflix
If you’re not one of those couples who hits the town every weekend, going out and partying hard, you’re better off, according to a new survey. It found that staying home to binge-watch Netflix could be the key to a successful long-term relationship. Of course, the survey was done by Netflix, so they might be a little biased, but we’ll go along with it.
Netflix surveyed just over 1,000 of their streaming service users between the ages of 18 and 29, asking about watching shows in a relationship. And 72% of their respondents reported what most of us already know – staying home and watching Netflix together is one of the best ways to spend a date night. More than half of the couples said they felt truly bonded with their sweetie over Netflix. So maybe “House of Cards” marathons are the secret to true love? Or maybe it’s about chillin with your s.o. and blocking out the annoying outside world.
A quarter of users get “show goggles,” which means they find possible love interests more attractive depending on what shows they watch. This makes sense because the kind of TV shows you watch says a lot about you. And half the people in the survey said they list shows on their online dating profile so they will attract other people who also like the same shows.
But if you really want to show your sweetie that you’re ready to get serious, it’s time to share your Netflix password with him. In fact, 51% said that’s means the relationship is serious and 17% won’t share theirs until they’re engaged! The Netflix survey also figured out the key to a happy relationship is to compromise. To that point, 65% of couples take turns selecting shows and deciding what to watch. So if you can make it work with Netflix, chances are you can make it work in real life.
