There Will Never Be a “Big Lebowski” Sequel
It looks like The Dude will be staying put. Joel and Ethan Cohen, the directors of the 1998 cult classic are officially shutting down the idea of a “Big Lebowski” sequel.
“Tara Reid likes to announce that just like [George] Clooney likes to announce ‘Hail, Caesar!,” Joel Coen tells Variety, referring to how Clooney pushed them to write their latest script by telling the press that it was his next movie. “In this case, I don’t think we’ll oblige.”
John Tuturro has also floated around the idea of a spin off movie following his Jesus character. To that, Ethan Cohen simply said “no.”
One movie in their filmography the Cohens are willing to revisit is “Barton Fink.” “That’s the one movie that we thought deserved a sequel, called ‘Old Fink,’” Joel explains. “But we don’t want to do it until Turturro is quite old. He’s getting there.”
