Justin Bieber actually has a minor role in the film and Stiller went out of his way during in interview to defend the Beebs, saying he’s a “great kid.” Stiller went further by suggesting he was “very fortunate” to have Bieber in the movie.

Just saying those two things probably would have been enough. Justin Bieber is a mega-celebrity. Having him in the cast opens the door for more people to talk about – and actually go to see – the movie.

Well, Stiller didn’t stop there.

He doubled down by explaining why so many people hate the little snot-nosed pop singer. According to Stiller, we hate the Beebs because we all want to be him. We all “want Justin Bieber’s life.” Think about that.
