While many people were forced to reckon with Winter Storm Jonas this past weekend – and dreaming of heading down south to escape the cold, others had different idead. Enter Steve Yarborough, who voluntarily flew from Texas to New York – so he could experience the storm.

A self described “weather nerd,” Yarborough and his wife, Kathleen, don’t get snow in their neck of the woods, so they seized the opportunity and flew up in time for the worst of it. Steve said he and his wife had a blast, playing in the snow all day and walking down Park Avenue in the middle of the storm.

Their flight back home was delayed, but they were able to get booked standby on a later flight.
