Man is Trying to Ban Popcorn at the Movies
Mike Shotton does not want you to get popcorn when you go the movies. The British man says the sound of people chewing the snack is distracting from the movie itself and he’s started a petition to get the sale of popcorn banned.
He claims the sound has bothered him since he saw “Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves” back in the 1990s, but his recent trip to see “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” pushed him over the edge. “I knew there would be a lot of kids there but I also thought it would be full of true fans wanting to watch the movie in peace,” Shotton explained. “I couldn’t believe the amount of noise during the film – it completely ruined it for me.” “I just can’t concentrate with people rustling and making noise,” he added. “Popcorn is the main culprit. It needs to go.”
So far, Shotton has gotten 106 signatures on his petition, but a counter attack has been launched. Another petition calls for people to “Stop these killjoys from banning our popcorn.” That petition has 92 signatures. Shotton won’t let any amount of hate stop him. He plans on bringing his concern as far up in the government as he can. Because of course he does.
