Two day tennis clinic on Monday and Wednesday August 20th and 22nd at 210 Maple street in Massena.

9-12 year olds 9:00 am to 10:30 am swimming and snacks from 10:30 to 11:30.

13-17 year olds 10:30 am to 12:00 noon swimming and snacks from noon to 1:00.

Learn forehand, backhand, serve & volley and how to play games. Bring a racket if you have one (if not one will be provided). Sneakers, swim suit and a towel. $40 total for both days. All money goes to drill a drinking water well which will provide clean water for 1,000 people for years.

The Norwood Model Railroad Club is sponsoring its 9th Annual Model Train, Toy & Collectible Expo at the Massena Arena, Massena, NY on Saturday, September 29th (10am to 5pm) & Sunday, September 30th (10am to 4pm).  Admissions is $4.00 with children under 10 free.  Come see 7+ operating model train layouts of different sizes and gauges, visit our many vendors, and attend a clinic on model railroad scenery (Model Tree Construction).  Fun for all ages. Weather permitting free miniature outdoor train rides for young and old.  Concession food stand is available.


Saturday, August 18, 2018 the Massena High School Cheerleaders will be having a car wash fundraising event at the Massena Fire Dept. from 9am -1pm.  It’s $5.00

per vehicle.  The cheerleaders will also have a bake sale while you wait and any cans/bottles you have can be dropped off as well and would be greatly appreciated.  All proceeds will help the cheerleaders purchase new uniforms and equipment.  Hope to see you there!

2018 Farmers Market Coupon’s Still Available at The Office for the Aging!

Farmer Market coupons are still available to eligible Senior Citizens.  Low income eligible seniors*, age 60 and over, may use Farmers Market Coupons to purchase locally grown, fruits and vegetables from local farmers’ markets. 

Office for the Aging will be distributing coupons until Thursday, August 16th. Eligible Seniors may pick up the coupons at the office, 80 State Highway 310 Canton, Monday-Friday 8 am to 4 pm. (Booklets cannot be mailed and may not be picked up by proxies) Power of Attorney may sign for booklets, POA form is needed!   Booklets are first come, first served. 

One coupon booklet will be issued to all eligible seniors in a household, regardless of how many seniors comprise the household. Senior Citizens who have questions regarding Farmers Market Coupons should contact the Office for the Aging at: (315) 386-4730.

*Monthly Income at/or Below:

$1,872/one person-household; $2,538/two-person household; $3,204/three-person household.

The Office for the Aging provides service and advocacy for county residents 60 years and older. Programs and services includes: Nutrition Centers and Home Delivered Meals; Home Care Services; Family Caregiver Support; Senior Community Service Employment Program; Medical Transportation; Legal Services; Health Insurance Information Counseling and Assistance.  The Office’s mission is to develop a service system specifically designed to best meet the social and human needs of the elderly.

Cornell Cooperative Extension will offer the Master Gardener Volunteer Course starting September 13 through November 15, 2018.

Classes will be held two times per week: Tuesdays from 9 to 3 and Thursdays from 9 to 12.

The training will take place at CCE of Jefferson County, 203 North Hamilton St. in Watertown.

The cost for the training is $200.

If you would like to take the course you MUST attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, August 22 from 10 am to 12 pm:

>Get all of your questions answered

>Receive all paperwork for enrollment

>Receive a complete course schedule with class topics

There is no need to register for the informational meeting. Just stop in- we will begin PROMPTLY at 10 am.
