Yes Drummer Wants XYZ Supergroup Songs Released

Remember the supergroup XYZ, consisting of Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page along with Yes members Alan White and Chris Squire? Well, maybe not, since the project was trashed in 1981 before they could even release anything… but if you have, that’s probably because the group’s recordings ended up getting leaked.

Page has said before that he always wanted to finish off the recordings and get them released. And in a new interview, Yes drummer White is saying the same thing. He also thinks it would be “quite amazing” if they could convince Robert Plant to sing on the tracks.

“I was talking to Jimmy [a few years go] and [he] said, ‘I want to dig those tapes up and finish them off and release an album.’ I said, ‘just call me,’ [but] I think he put the project on hold when he got back to England,” White explains. “I need to get in touch with Jimmy and be like, ‘Let’s finish those tapes off.’”
